Solid Rocket Booster

The secret ingredient took us back to tram tracks. In the 19th century, tram tracks were just
bolted next to one another and gaps between them made for the bumpy ride. German chemist Hans Goldschmidt invented a way to weld tracks together by burning aluminum. It's the intense heat of burning aluminium that NASA exploits.

The compressed oxygen flows from the tank along this aluminum tube, and then ignites and
aluminum burns.
