What is Truth and Reality ?
(1) What made change possible ?
(2) What is the universe made of ?
(3) What is the foundation of knowledge ? (Epistemology)
(4) What can we know ? Sense perception is not reliable.
Without philosophy, can we answer above the questions ?
Let's start from the (1) question.
Human who observed the natural phenomena changed, but did not know causality.
flood, fire, hurricane, earthquake, and lightning... They affected our life and property.
So, both Mesopotamia and Egypt created mythologies to explain the nature.
They thought the God is the part of nature (pantheism).
And then Hebrews :
What made Hebrews created Monotheism ?
They removed the God from the nature, they thought the God created everything.
It was the precursor of the scientific thought.
Finally, philosophy was in the Miletus.
