Stamping Process

The underbody of Jaguar XK consists of three sections.
The Front-End, Center-Floor, and Rear-End.

Front-End

Front-End. Square beam structure made up the front end. Cantilever-Beam

It has been built for double duties.
Support the engine, and provide the stiffness for better handling.

Center-Floor

Transmission Tunnel

Expanding Ring to seal out the liquid and vapor.





Rear-End

The robot has multi-tasks. Punch the rivet and load the component.

Using the rivet to join the car body, instead of welding.

The side panel has not been bolt it up, so the technician bending the metal to
hold the side panel temporarily.

They adjusted the aluminium panel by millimeter.

Make sure every parts is alignment.

Take the temperature of the car body. (Using the Laser Thermometer)

The spark begins to fly. Welding
Aluminium is far low melting point than steel, so it takes extreme precision to weld
without damaging the integrity of the part. Thankfully, the robot can be programmed to move perfect speed. Completely merging two sections without burning through the metal.

The technician must grind and polish the rear fender, until it looks as one piece metal.
Completely, it is invisible.

Coordinate Measure Machine.
Inspect every panel of car body is in perfect position.
