Ice Breaker - Big Bigger Biggest

One by one, travel by the scale, we will reveal incredible stories behind these ships.

1. Breaking Ice
2. Propulsion
3. Protection
4. Ice Navigation

Nuclear Icebreaker

The bow of the ship is sharp and straight, so it can cut through the water like the knife. If the ship like this hit the ice sheet, it would get stuck. The ship needs to come down from the top of the ice sheet to break it into the section. How to get the ship to tackle the ice from the top ??

The bow of ship is round like the spoon allowing the ship to slide on the top of the ice sheet, and then smash down on its own weight.

When the tank is empty, it rides high above the water. But it fully loaded with the oil, the bow is deep in the water. The bow would hit the ice and can not ride upon on it.

The nozzle sprays the salt water into the air to minus 20 degrees.

Azipod

The friction of the hull is huge.

The ship sucks the sea water through the hull, the water is mixed with the air and shot though nozzles directly below the vulnerable ship. The mixture forms slippery cushion between the hull and ice.
