The Cougar HEV is a versatile, diesel powered, pneumatic tired, heavily armored,
multi-purpose vehicle, that is urgently needed by Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams deployed
in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom to increase their
survivability against Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The Cougar HEV has adequate armor
protection and possesses the capability to carry all required EOD equipment.
With a 360-degree automatic weapons mount
Cougar MRAP has a V-shaped hull, that extends to the engine bay. Such design is intended to direct the blast away from the vehicle.
All-round protection is against 7.62-mm NATO rounds, however significant ballistic upgrades are available, upon 12.7-mm armor-piercing rounds.
