Horten Ho 229 - Hitler's Stealth Fighter

Horton Ho 229

It was the first pure " Flying Wing "  powered by a " Jet Engine ".

B-2 Spirit

Material would absorb the energy and more importantly the shape prevented from returning radar. Stealth technology doesn't make the aircraft invisible, it reduced the detection  and much more difficult to defend against using fighters and anti-aircraft weapons.

In the final month of WWII, the Allied forced to speed across Germany in the desperately search.

Jet Engine power and wooden aircraft.

Ship back to United States.

Hidden under the shadow.

60 years after the " Horton Ho 229 "  took to the sky debated about stealth capability it is
about to be saddled.

Measure the dimension and duplicate the aircraft. Once completion, they will test it against
WWII radar.

The plane constructed almost by the wood.

Test and determine the energy has been absorbed or reflected.

Northrop Grumman

Rotator.  This is classified, they did not reveal what materials made of.

The rotator would be used to touch the model to the pole 5 stories tall from the ground.

Horten Brothers

Ready to build the replica.

Leading Edge

To make sure the electromagnetic radar wave reflected that is accurate.

" Metal Cockpit ", " Inlet ".
Northrop Grumman will replicate two vulnerable areas of stealth aircraft.

" Carbon Fiber "   is easier to layout.

Prototype Engine Turbine Blade

Selective Laser Sintering

This machine is the idea to replicate the complicated one of a kind parts.Capable to
create any shape by melting thin layers of powder nylon.

Selective Laser Sintering Process.  From Wikipedia.

Laser Crystal Engraving
??  Selective Laser Sintering : Fuse Powder into a mass = Laser Crystal : Mark it ??

After re-heating the cockpit glass.

They made the second attempt to shape the canopy in one piece.

 Vulnerable areas of the aircraft.

Turning fan blades would reflect the radar.

Cockpit

The team undertake one  last step to ensure the plane is ready for radar testing.

The paint will simulate the real metal like the real aircraft.

Long range bomber. Adolf Hitler had the dream taking the war in the United States such as :
Knock down Skyscrapers in New York City.

This would be the first time Jet powered Flying Wing.

Horten 18 Bomber.  6 Jet Engines.

They would rotate the plane to get radar cross-section.

The nose, inlet and canopy area that are major parts which radar reflection coming from.
