Millau Viaduct-Megastructure


Three daunting challenges.
The tallest piers in the world. Put the deck on the piers. Build the pylons.
If you are on the top of the Effel Tower, you still look up the awesome viaduct.







The concrete formula must be right.

Traditional way would destroy the vulnerable piers.













Wind Tunnel



The grey plate is Teflon.





Two parts must be fit together with perfect geometry.





GPS locates on the front of the deck that makes sure the precise position.



Note that the " Cross Section of the bridge ".
You can see that it is like the reverse of the airplane wing. As the wind blows cross the suspension bridge that would create downward force to ensure the safety of the bridge.









You can see the undulation of the flexible deck obviously.
