NYC Subway Car

Dr.Octopus puts the train at maximum speed and then breaks the control, leaving the train on course to drive off the elevated track. Spiderman is the only person that can save the train and passengers from the deadly crash. He attempts to fire numerous webs on surrounding buildings, creating a makeshift sling of himself and his webs. Finally, the train begins to slow down, and the Spiderman stops the train right before it would have crashed.

Now, National  Geographic will reveal how to assembly R160 New York City Subway Car.

Built by two different companies: Alstom Transportation and kawasaki Heavy Industries.
Alstom is the french company best known building high speed rail " TGV " in Europe.

Compartment

Under Frame

Spot Welding

Welders tackle the bumpers.

Anti-Climber.

The anti-climber locks a similar piece on the other keeps the trains ride together
preventing from one train climbing over the other, after impact.

The floor panel has a special insulating materials that muffle the sound from coming
into the passenger's compartment.

Next step, the cargo would become 3D

The technician welded the upright support and frame with carbon steel bumper together.
There is a challenge. The higher carbon contains, the lower the melting point.
This made the carbon steel tough to weld, so precision is vital.

Third Rail. Here is how it works.
The train picks up the electricity from high voltage third rail.

Insulation. Interior floors have three layers.

Under floor board.

The floor is the module section, so the damaged section can be replaced quickly and easily.

Air Condition

Brake system.
Copper is the top choice, because it can handle high pressure under wide range temperatures.

Door open. Use the Ball-Screw to control the door.

Window

Electric Traction Motor
Each car has four Electric Traction Motors and one per axle.

Stator

Rotor

Join together

The technician insulates the stator.

This is for easy access.

Stator Copper Coil

Wrap.
Each individual coil wire is wrapped several layers especially the tape,
but even with the insulation tape, they still have very small spaces.
Those spaces have to be filled with insulating materials,
so no moisture can get in and that can operate in the very tough environment.
After the coil installed into the stator, the stator needed to go to
VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation)

The white tape is incredibly to resist to the heat and chemicals

Closed circuit

Insulation

Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI)

Inside the chamber, the resin will bond any explosive surface or crevice.

Ready for the rotor.

Rotor Assembly

Rotor Core

Magnesium Plate

The rotor gets into the oven to expand.

Driveshaft

Use to join two metals without melting them.

**As the copper heats up, the silver melts. But the metal around them doesn't.
The melting silver joined the copper bar to the ring completing the rotor circuit.

Dynamic Braking

When brakes applied, the electrical motor exerts the torque in the direction opposite from rolling direction. This torque counteracts the momentum and eventually stops the car. When the electrical motor reverses its direction, it becomes the electricity generator.
This generated electricity would feedback to the third rail.

But the dynamic braking system isn't always offer the emergency stop. It becomes less effective from 6 kilometer per hour down to zero.It needs to use the conventional friction brakes. Basically, the train has two types of brake systems. Dynamic Braking is done by the motor. Friction Braking is done by Air Brake like the automobile.

Extreme temperatures in New York from minus 4 degrees Celsius in January to over 35 degrees Celsius in July. The wear and terrible weather take its toll on the tracks. If the rail deteriorates or shifts, the train could derail.

Track Geometry Car
This train has the laser mounted on the front and other sides that measure and monitor the track,
and the train also has infrared sensor to detect the smoke in case of the fire in the tunnel.

Thermoplastic Ceiling.
