TGV-Big Bigger Biggest

Put the locomotive on the chassis that becomes " Train".
Put the motor on the chassis in the city that becomes " Mass Rapid Transportation ".
Put the high powerful motor on the chassis running over 300 km/h that become " Bullet Train ".
Sometimes, it doesn't matter what you call the moving objects. Names is just only the names.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.  William Shakespeare.

Stephenson's Rocket. 30 mph.

Ballard Locomotive.

Shinkansen

TGV

Obviously, you want to produce the steam, you need to heat the water.

The right pan has 14 tubes .

By running through the pan increasing the hot metal to touch the water, so it boils faster and
produces more steam.

25 pipes carries the hot gas from the furnace. These pipes increase the contact with the water.

The steam powered the wheels.

Install the exhaust pipe through the Rocket.

As the steam blast into the chimney, it sucked more air into the fire that allowed to burn harder and
generated even more steam.

Pantograph (Rail)

There are frictions between the wire and sledges. " Electrical Arc ".

" Graphite ".
Low friction and good efficient to transmit electricity. Graphite is the excellent conductor, but it is
relatively soft which created the problem with the power line.

The line crosses from one side to another that wore down the stripe evenly.

But if the graphite get damaged, the wire can snap the pantograph.

To stop this from happening, the pantograph on the TGV pushed up with the compressed air.
It any part of the pantograph is damaged, the air escaped and dropped down the pantograph.

The spoiler diverts the air around the wheels.

The rubber seal covered the gap between the carriages.

On the well-designed train, most of the air rushes over the top and  sides.

But in the tight tunnel, the air can't escape and get squashed.

The air turned into the " Shock Wave " , and shot through the tunnel at the speed of the sound.
Like the bullet from the barrel. It activated the tunnel like the bomb that rattled the neighborhood.

To damp the bomb, the engineer installed the canopy over the tunnel entrance, there are slots cut into the roof. The holes dissipate energy and blast, so it leaves the tunnel the rumble.

Conical train wheels allow the carriages turn smoothly, but creating " Hunting Oscillation ".
Refer to " Bullet Train " -- Engineering Connections.

At the high speed, these wheels start swinging from side to side and slide off the rail.

Four brake discs on each axle.
